PT-109 is one of those old MS-DOS games that somehow sticks with you—probably because you're not just blasting ships, you're JFK blasting ships. It starts simple: you’re in charge of a tiny torpedo boat, and suddenly there’s a Japanese destroyer bearing down on you. The controls take a second to click (turning feels like wrestling a shopping cart), but once you get the hang of weaving between islands and lining up torpedo shots, it gets tense fast.
What’s cool is how it mixes arcade action with little strategic choices—do you waste fuel chasing down that life raft for extra points, or save it for the next ambush? The pixelated ocean looks like a blue checkerboard now, but back then, dodging searchlights and hearing that tinny explosion sound when a torpedo hit? Pure adrenaline. And yeah, knowing it’s loosely based on Kennedy’s actual near-death experience adds a weird layer of respect. Just don’t expect to win on your first try—those destroyers don’t mess around.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
