Game Overview

Purple Saturn Day came out in 1989 for MS-DOS, developed by Ere Informatique. It was one of those early futuristic racing games that tried to do something a little different, with a focus on style and a synth-heavy soundtrack that stood out at the time. It didn't have the polygonal tracks of later racers, but it had its own distinct look and feel on the platform.

You control a low-flying hovercar on a fixed track, navigating tight turns and avoiding obstacles like walls and other vehicles. The main goal is simply to finish each course as fast as possible without wiping out. The game uses a behind-the-car perspective, and the tracks are filled with glowing guide lines and colorful, abstract scenery that scrolls by quickly. It's not an easy game; the handling is slippery, and the courses demand precise timing. Crashing is frequent, but there's a strange satisfaction in the visual and audio feedback when you mess up. Playing it feels like trying to stay balanced on a beam of light while everything around you pulses with energy.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
