Qix Adventure came out for the Game Boy Color in 1999, developed by Taito. It was one of those late-era releases that tried to expand on a classic arcade idea, fitting right in with the portable library's mix of puzzles and action. The game took the original Qix formula and gave it a light adventure structure, something a bit different for players looking to stretch their skills on the go.
You control a small character who moves along the edges of the screen, drawing lines to claim territory while avoiding enemies called Sparx. The main goal is to fill a certain percentage of each stage to advance, but you also explore screen by screen, uncovering barriers and sometimes collecting items. The pacing is tense; one mistake can erase a lot of progress, and the Sparx move unpredictably. It feels satisfying to narrowly avoid danger and slowly claim the whole playfield.
