Qix Adventure on Game Boy Color takes Taito’s classic arcade formula and gives it a little more personality. You play as Speedy, this tiny explorer who’s basically running around fencing off chunks of the screen while dodging these two annoying enemies—Sparx zip around like hyperactive fireflies, and the Qix slithers unpredictably. The goal’s still to claim 75% of the area, but now there’s treasure involved.

Here’s the fun part: each level has a beast guarding a chest. Trap the beast, the chest pops open, and suddenly you’re scrambling to grab whatever shiny thing’s inside before the Qix ruins your day. You can snag up to three treasures per stage if you’re quick, plus random power-ups that make life easier (or just more chaotic).

Besides the main treasure-hunting mode, there’s a battle mode for two players and a straight-up port of the original Qix if you want pure, old-school frustration. It’s weirdly satisfying once you get the hang of carving up the screen without getting wrecked.
