Quester is Namco’s take on Breakout, but with way more chaos—in a good way. You’ve got the usual paddle-and-ball setup, but the bricks aren’t just sitting there waiting to be smashed. Some take multiple hits, others spawn new blocks around them, and a few are just plain indestructible. The real fun starts when you hit a brick and a power-up drops—grab it fast, because they do everything from stretching your paddle to flooding the screen with extra balls.
My favorite is the force field that spits out nine balls at once—total mayhem, especially when the ball speed suddenly changes mid-game. There’s also a safety net that catches a missed ball (once, at least), and if you’re lucky, you’ll snag an extra life hidden in a Rally-X flag. The longer you keep the ball in play, the crazier it gets—eventually splitting into three. It’s Arkanoid’s weird, unpredictable cousin.
