Blast through corridors shooting bizarre aliens with weapons that feel just wrong enough to be perfect, all while synth tracks make the cramped levels feel massive. It’s janky, charming, and unmistakably '90s.

Game Overview

Quiver is one of those weird little Doom clones from the '90s that somehow sticks with you. Yeah, it’s got the same basic setup—shoot aliens, grab keys, find the exit—but there’s this goofy charm to it. The enemies look like they were designed by someone who’d only heard descriptions of Doom’s monsters secondhand, and the weapons feel just slightly off in the best way. That shotgun? Weirdly satisfying.

Resolution goes up to 800×600, which was kinda fancy for 1997, but honestly, the real star is the soundtrack. David B. Schultz (same guy who did Nitemare 3D) nailed it with these eerie, synth-heavy tracks that make the levels feel bigger than they actually are. The whole thing was basically made by one guy, Mike Taylor, and you can tell—it’s janky in places, but there’s heart here.

Story’s barebones (aliens stole time-travel orbs, go get ’em back), but who cares? It’s more about blasting through corridors and laughing at the weirdly non-threatening enemies. If you dig obscure retro shooters, this one’s a fun oddity. Just don’t expect it to take itself seriously.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
