Play R.B.I. Baseball Online
The original NES baseball classic with real MLB players from the '80s. Simple, competitive, and still weirdly satisfying to hit a homer with Reggie Jackson.
R.B.I. Baseball came out for the NES in 1988, developed and published by Tengen. It was one of the first baseball games on the system to feature real Major League Baseball players and teams, which was a pretty big deal at the time. While other sports titles were still using generic athletes, this one let you step up to the plate with actual stars from that era.
You control all nine players on the field, handling both pitching and batting. The main goal is to outscore your opponent over nine innings. Pitching involves selecting a type of throw and aiming it; batting is all about timing your swing to make contact. Fielding is automatic once the ball is hit, with the computer moving your players toward it, though you take over for the throw. The game moves at a quick pace, and the difficulty can spike depending on the team you face. It feels straightforward and responsive, capturing the immediate tension of a real at-bat without unnecessary complexity.
