Play Radar Mission Online

Radar Mission came out for the Game Boy in 1990, published by Nintendo. It was one of those games that felt a little different from the usual platformers and puzzle titles crowding the system at the time. You got two distinct modes of play in one cartridge, which was a nice change of pace if you were tired of just running and jumping.

In the first mode, you command a submarine and hunt enemy ships on a grid based map. You move screen by screen, using your limited radar pings to locate targets before firing torpedoes. The second mode shifts to a first person perspective inside the sub; you manually aim and shoot at warships approaching from the horizon, timing your shots between waves. The pacing is deliberate, almost tense, especially when your sonar is recharging and you're blind. It feels strategic and isolated, like you're really out there on your own in deep water.
