Play Rampart (Europe) Online
You drop Tetris-shaped castle walls, panic as cannons blast them apart, then desperately rebuild between waves—mess up and your defenses crumble in seconds.

Rampart came out for the NES in 1991, developed and published by Jaleco. It was a strange and clever game for its time, a mix of strategy and action that felt different from most other titles on the system. While everyone else was jumping on platforms or shooting aliens, you were building castles and managing a fleet under fire.
You control a single cursor to place Tetris-like wall pieces, rebuilding your fortress between frantic rounds of cannon combat. The main goal is to defend your castles from an invading fleet by destroying all enemy ships before they breach your walls. Key mechanics include strategically placing wall segments to fully enclose your castles and then manning cannons to fire at approaching ships; if you fail to fully seal a castle, you cannot use its cannons in the next round. The pacing is intense, with quiet building phases abruptly shattered by chaotic naval assaults, and the difficulty escalates quickly as enemy numbers and accuracy improve. It feels like a tense race against the clock, where one misplaced block can lead to your entire defense collapsing.
