Play Rasterscan Online
Pilot a blocky spaceship, dodge neon projectiles, and shoot enemies in a fixed arena while trying to survive and rack up points in this classic shooter from 1987.
Rasterscan came out in 1987 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series from Mastertronic. It was a time when simple, direct arcade-style games were common on home computers, and this one fit right in with its no-frills approach to the shooter genre.
You pilot a small, blocky spaceship across a single screen filled with geometric enemies that fire patterned neon projectiles. Your objective is pure survival; you dodge incoming fire while shooting back to clear a path and rack up points. The game uses a fixed screen, so all the action happens in one contained arena, with enemy waves growing more complex and aggressive as you progress. It gets brutally difficult quickly, demanding sharp reflexes and memorization of attack patterns. Playing it feels like a tense, rhythmic dance with death where every second of survival is a hard-won victory.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
