Ratatouille on the GBA is one of those sneaky-good movie tie-ins that actually gets it right. You play as Remy, the tiny rat with big culinary dreams, scurrying through kitchens, sewers, and alleys while dodging rolling pins and human feet. The platforming feels tight—you’ll shimmy up table legs, leap across spice racks, and occasionally pause to sniff out ingredients for recipes (yes, really).

What surprised me was how much personality they packed into those tiny sprites. Remy’s little animations when he’s chopping veggies or sneezing from pepper clouds are weirdly adorable. The music’s got that bouncy GBA charm too, though after a while you might hum it against your will.

It’s not super hard, but some sections—like outrunning a rolling soup pot or timing jumps past swinging knives—will trip you up a few times. And fair warning: you will get hungry watching pixelated ratatouille get plated up.

If you’ve got a soft spot for the movie or just want a quirky little platformer, this one’s worth digging out of the retro pile.
