Rayman DS came out in 2005 for the Nintendo DS, developed and published by Ubisoft. It was part of that early wave of DS games that tried to bring familiar console experiences to the handheld, adapting the 2D platforming style of the original Rayman for the dual screen setup.
You control Rayman, moving through levels by running, jumping, and punching enemies. The main goal is to rescue the Electoons by collecting cages scattered across each stage. Signature mechanics include screen by screen exploration, using Rayman's helicopter hair to glide over gaps, and interacting with touch based puzzles on the lower screen. The pacing is brisk, with some tricky platforming sections that demand good timing. It feels energetic and responsive, even if the difficulty can spike unexpectedly in later areas.
