Game Overview
RBI Baseball 2 on NES is one of those old-school baseball games that feels simple but has some depth if you stick with it. The controls are basic—swing, pitch, run—but timing matters more than you'd think. I remember whiffing on fastballs for the first few innings before finally getting the rhythm down.
The fielding can be a little janky, especially when trying to chase down fly balls, but the pitching mechanics are surprisingly solid. You actually have to mix up speeds and locations, or the AI will tee off on you. The teams are licensed, which was rare back then, so playing as real MLB squads adds some charm.
It’s not perfect—the graphics are obviously dated, and the AI can be predictable—but RBI Baseball 2 holds up better than most NES sports games. If you’re into retro baseball, it’s worth a few innings.
