Game Overview
Ready 2 Rumble Boxing on Game Boy Color is basically the pocket-sized version of the over-the-top arcade boxing game from consoles. You still get those ridiculous, exaggerated fighters—seven to start with, plus three more you can unlock—but now in chunky 2D. It’s simpler, sure, but somehow still captures that chaotic energy.
You’ve got two main modes: Arcade for quick fights and Championship where you climb the ladder against everyone else. Every match is best-of-three, so even if you eat a punch or two, there’s room for a comeback. The controls are straightforward—A and B for punches, add up or down for uppercuts or body blows—but landing clean hits fills your RUMBLE meter. When that thing’s full? Mash A+B and watch your boxer go absolutely wild for a few seconds.
Best part? Michael Buffer’s voice is still here, announcing fights with his signature “Let’s get ready to rumble!” The cartridge even rumbles (if you’ve got the U.S. version) when you land big hits. It’s silly, it’s loud, and honestly, it’s kind of amazing they crammed this much personality into a Game Boy game.
