Real Football 2008 came out for the Nintendo DS in 2008, developed by Gameloft. It was one of many handheld sports titles at the time, offering a portable soccer experience that fit right into the era of quick, pick-up-and-play games on the system.
You control a full team of players, directing passes, setting up shots, and trying to score goals. The main objective is to win matches across various leagues and tournaments. Signature mechanics include using the touch screen for precise through balls and finesse shots, as well as executing skill moves by swiping the stylus. The pacing is generally fast, though the AI can put up a decent challenge on higher settings. It feels responsive and immediate, especially when you string together a good attacking move.
