Play RemorseView Online
You wake up in a text-only nightmare, typing commands to unravel a story that feels like decoding someone’s haunted diary. Every answer just leads to weirder questions.

RemorseView was released as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, though it never had a numbered volume. It was developed by a small team whose name doesn't ring many bells today, but they captured a certain mood of early PC gaming, when text and imagination did most of the heavy lifting. The game fits right into that era of parser-driven adventures, where you weren't just playing a game; you were having a conversation with it, one awkward command at a time.
You control an unnamed protagonist, interacting entirely through typed instructions like "look journal" or "ask ghost about regret." Your main objective is to piece together a fractured narrative by exploring eerie locations, solving environmental puzzles, and making dialogue choices that shape the outcome. Signature mechanics include navigating room by room in a non-linear manner, collecting and using symbolic items (a rusted key, a faded photograph), and engaging in conversations where every word matters. The pacing is deliberate, almost slow, and the difficulty comes from interpreting vague clues and the consequences of your moral choices. It feels like untangling a knot in the dark, never quite sure if you're making progress or just making things worse.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
