Game Overview

I picked up the Ren & Stimpy Show for Game Boy back in 1993, a THQ release that landed right in the middle of the handheld's life. It was one of those licensed games that tried to capture the show's manic energy, and it stood out simply because of how strange the source material was. You didn't see many games willing to be this gross or absurd on a tiny green screen.

You control both Ren and Stimpy, switching between them to tackle different obstacles. Ren handles the standard platforming sections, jumping across gaps and avoiding enemies, while Stimpy is used for weird mini-games, like collecting his own nose hairs or firing snot rockets. The goal is to progress screen by screen, dealing with whatever bizarre challenge pops up next. The pacing is uneven, sometimes frantic and sometimes just odd, and the difficulty can spike without much warning. It feels exactly like playing through a chaotic, slightly broken cartoon episode.
