Play Res Publica Online
You start as a broke Roman senator—then spend your days spreading rumors, buying votes, and occasionally poisoning rivals when they get too ambitious. The other senators hold grudges like pros, so watch your back.

Game Overview
Res Publica is one of those old-school MS-DOS games that makes you realize politics hasn’t changed much in 2,000 years. You start as a Roman senator with a modest estate and a whole lot of ambition—then spend the next few hours bribing officials, whispering rumors, and occasionally starting wars when diplomacy fails.
The first time I played, I thought I could win by just being virtuous and honorable. Big mistake. By the third turn, my rivals had drained my treasury, turned my allies against me, and left me with nothing but a crumbling villa. Lesson learned: sometimes you have to bribe a few judges or hire a poisoner. The AI senators are devious, and they remember every slight.
It’s got that classic Civilization-style depth, but instead of building cities, you’re trading favors and plotting coups. The text-based interface takes a minute to get used to, but once it clicks, you’ll be too busy scheming to care about graphics. Just don’t get too attached to your allies—they’ll stab you in the back the second it’s convenient.
If you’ve ever wanted to outmaneuver Cicero in a debate or bankrupt your enemies with a well-timed grain embargo, this is your game. Just save often. Rome wasn’t built in a day, but your career can collapse in one bad vote.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
