Resistance: Retribution is one of those PSP shooters that actually makes the handheld feel like a proper console. You play as James Grayson, a former British Marine out for revenge against the Chimera—those creepy alien hybrids from the main Resistance games. The controls are surprisingly tight for a third-person shooter on PSP, and the levels take you through ruined European cities where every corner could hide another ambush.
What I like is how it bridges the gap between Resistance 1 and 2 without just feeling like filler. The story’s got weight, and the weapons—like the Auger that shoots through walls—keep fights unpredictable. It’s not just mindless shooting, either; you’ll duck behind cover, flank enemies, and even deal with some light puzzle-solving. For a portable game, it punches way above its weight.
If you’ve got a PSP gathering dust, this is one of the better reasons to dig it back out.
