Game Overview

Revenge of the Shinobi is one of those Genesis games that sticks with you—mostly because it kicks your butt at first, but in the best way possible. You play as Joe Musashi, a ninja who’s way more agile than I’ll ever be, flipping through levels tossing shurikens and slicing up goons. The controls feel tight, but don’t expect to breeze through—enemies come at you from all angles, and those bosses? Huge, screen-dominating nightmares (especially that one that looks suspiciously like a certain web-slinger).

The music alone is worth it—synth-heavy tracks that somehow make getting wrecked by a helicopter feel cool. And yeah, it’s tough, but not unfair. Once you get the rhythm down—when to jump, when to strike, when to just run like hell—it clicks. Still holds up if you’re into that old-school, no-handholding action. Just don’t blame me when you get stuck on the rooftop level for an hour.
