Game Overview

Richard Scarry's Busytown on MS-DOS is basically like playing inside one of his books—Huckle Cat and Lowly Worm are there, the art style’s exactly the same, and even the voices sound like they’re ripped straight from the cartoons. You just wander around clicking on stuff, helping weird little animal citizens with their odd jobs. One minute you’re carefully pouring lemonade (and getting scolded if you spill), the next you’re fixing a ship or messing with wind controls to blow hats off at the park.

It’s super simple—each mini-game takes maybe 10 minutes—but there’s something charming about how everything slowly wakes up the town as you complete tasks. Also, the "Are you blind?" line when you overfill a drink still lives in my head rent-free. Definitely made for kids, but if you grew up with the books, it’s a weirdly cozy nostalgia trip.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
