Game Overview

Rick Dangerous on Game Boy Advance was a 2003 release from developer SuperSonic Software and publisher Zoo Digital Publishing. It arrived late in the GBA's life, a time when many publishers were porting older computer classics to the handheld. This version brought the 1989 Atari ST and Amiga original to a portable screen, fitting right in with the platform's library of challenging, retro-styled action games.

You control Rick, an adventurer who must escape from a series of ancient temples and enemy strongholds. The main objective is to navigate each single-screen room, avoiding traps like falling boulders, poison darts, and collapsing floors to reach the exit. Signature mechanics include using a limited supply of bullets to take out guards and finding hidden switches that open new pathways. The pacing is methodical, demanding careful observation and precise timing due to the high difficulty and instant-death obstacles. It feels like a tense puzzle where every step could be your last.
