Road Fighter came out on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1984, developed and published by Konami. It was one of those straightforward racing games from the early NES library, a time when simple concepts and clear goals were the norm.
You control a red sports car, weaving through highway traffic to reach the end of each stage before your fuel runs out. The main objective is to pass as many other cars as possible without crashing, all while collecting fuel cans to keep going. The screen scrolls automatically, forcing you to react quickly to oncoming vehicles and occasional oil slicks. The pacing is relentless; one mistake can cost you precious time or cause a spin-out. It feels tense and immediate, a pure test of reflexes and lane management.
