Play RoboCop (Japan) on gb Online

Tiny RoboCop stomps through Detroit blasting pixelated thugs—the pistol still feels great even on Game Boy’s cramped screen. Conveyor belts will wreck you, but landing those precise shots makes it weirdly satisfying.

Game Overview

I picked up RoboCop for the Game Boy, a 1990 release from Ocean Software. It's a side-scrolling action game that fits right in with the platform's early library, where licensed titles often tried to capture the feel of their source material with limited hardware. You control RoboCop through a series of urban stages, moving from left to right while engaging enemies.

As RoboCop, you walk, jump, and fire your Auto-9 pistol at criminals and robots that appear throughout each level. The main goal is to reach the end of each stage, defeating bosses and avoiding environmental hazards like conveyor belts and explosive barrels. Key mechanics include picking up health restoratives and extra ammunition, as well as occasionally switching to a first-person targeting mode for specific enemy encounters. The pacing is methodical, and the difficulty can be steep due to limited continues and precise platforming demands. It feels straightforward but requires careful timing and resource management to progress.
