Game Overview
Rockman 7 (or Mega Man 7 outside Japan) picks up right after the last game—Dr. Wily’s finally behind bars, but surprise, he had a backup plan. Four dormant Robot Masters wake up months later and wreck the city where he’s imprisoned, busting him out before Mega Man can stop them. Then this edgy new rival, Bass, shows up with his robo-wolf Treble, fights you for like five seconds, and dips, leaving you wondering if they’re allies or just really bad at teamwork.
The usual Mega Man formula kicks in—you pick stages, steal boss weapons, and realize halfway through that Freeze Man’s level is way harder than it looks. The new Robot Masters are a mixed bag (Spring Man’s bounce gimmick is annoying, but Shade Man’s gothic castle stage slaps). And just when you think you’ve got things under control, Bass pulls a betrayal so predictable even Mega Man should’ve seen it coming.
Wily’s final fortress is classic nonsense—giant mechs, cheap traps, and that moment where he whines for mercy again. This time, Mega Man actually considers ending him for good, but of course the base explodes before anything happens. Bass gets the last laugh, Mega Man sighs, and you know there’ll be a sequel. Classic 16-bit action with just enough new twists to keep it interesting.
