Game Overview

Rockman EXE Battle Chip GP came out on the Game Boy Advance in 2004, developed and published by Capcom. It was a time when the GBA was full of inventive spin-offs, and this one took the Mega Man Battle Network formula and focused it entirely on the card-based combat, stripping away the adventure elements for something more direct and competitive.

You control MegaMan.EXE in a series of fast, grid-based battles, using a custom deck of Battle Chips you collect and organize before each fight. The main goal is to win tournaments by defeating a string of NetNavis, one after another. The signature mechanics are the real-time chip selection, where you pause the action to choose your next attack from a hand of randomly drawn chips, and building powerful Program Advances by using specific chip combinations in sequence. The pacing is relentless; matches are short bursts of intense strategy where you're constantly dodging on a 6x3 panel grid while trying to line up your own attacks. It feels like a tense, high-speed puzzle where every second counts.
