Play Ruin Arm (Japan) Online
You play as a guy in high-tech armor slicing through weird mech monsters, switching between sword swings and gun blasts in turn-based fights that actually feel snappy. The pixel art’s gorgeous, and that soundtrack? Still humming it years later.

Ruin Arm is one of those weird, obscure SNES RPGs that never left Japan—which is a shame because it’s got this cool cyber-fantasy vibe going on. You play as Arm, this armored dude who gets sent to figure out why his kingdom just got wrecked by some unknown force. The combat’s turn-based but with a twist: you can swap between melee and ranged attacks mid-fight, which keeps battles from feeling too repetitive.
The pixel art’s surprisingly detailed for a Super Nintendo game, especially the enemy designs—some of them look like they crawled out of a mech anime. And the music? Absolute bangers. The overworld theme still gets stuck in my head sometimes.
It’s not perfect—the translation patches out there are a little rough, and the dungeon layouts can be confusing—but if you’re into offbeat 16-bit RPGs, this one’s worth digging up. Just don’t expect a happy ending.
