Ruin Arm is one of those SNES RPGs that starts off cozy—you're just this kid named Arm living in a quiet village with your dad, sister, and a chatty bird. Then, of course, everything goes wrong. After a quick dungeon run for a family heirloom sword, you come back to find your home wrecked by soldiers, your dad with no memory, and suddenly you're off on this wild quest involving ancient empires and shady magicians.
What I love is how the combat works—you can either let the AI handle your party members (Linda slinging spells, Lucia doing... bird things) or take direct control, swapping between them mid-fight. The dungeons aren’t just hack-and-slash either—some puzzles need two characters working together, like having Arm hold a switch while Linda slips through a door. It’s got that classic SNES charm with just enough twists to keep you hooked.
Also, the story gets surprisingly deep once you peel back the layers of that Mediom empire stuff. Just don’t expect your dad to remember your name anytime soon.
