Runaway was part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, a compilation that brought together various titles from the platform's early years. You control a chimpanzee attempting to break free from a research facility. The main objective is to solve a series of environmental puzzles to progress from one screen to the next, using a point and click interface to interact with objects and characters. Signature mechanics include combining inventory items in logical (or occasionally illogical) ways and navigating through static, pre-rendered scenes that require careful observation. The pacing is deliberate, and some puzzles can be quite obscure, demanding patience and trial and error. It feels like piecing together a strange, slightly surreal story where every small success brings a genuine sense of accomplishment.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
