Game Overview

SD Sengokuden 2: Tenka Touitsu Hen came out on the Game Boy in 1992, developed by TOSE and published by Bandai. It was part of that wave of late-era Game Boy titles that tried to pack a lot of action and charm into a small cartridge, using the super-deformed style popular in many Japanese strategy and action games of the time.

You control one of several super-deformed feudal lords, like Nobunaga or Hideyoshi, moving screen by screen through enemy territory. Your goal is to conquer all of Japan by defeating rival commanders in real-time combat. You use a sword for close attacks and can also collect and use secondary weapons, such as bows or throwing items, to hit enemies from a distance. The game moves quickly, with short, intense skirmishes that demand good reflexes and positioning. It feels like a compact, fast-paced brawler with a strategic overworld, and finishing a stage gives a real sense of momentum.
