Game Overview

I first played See the U.S.A. as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, though I never did find out who originally made it. It came out during that era when PC games were often simple, earnest experiments, and this one fits right in: a low-key travel sim with no flashy graphics or complicated story, just the idea of driving across the country on a screen full of green and amber pixels.

You control a car on a map of the United States, moving state by state, and your goal is to visit as many landmarks as you can. The main things you do are manage your fuel and money, decide which routes to take, and stop at sights like the Grand Canyon or the Statue of Liberty when you pass them. The pace is slow, almost meditative; you’re mostly just watching the miles tick down and planning your next pit stop. It’s not a hard game, but running out of gas or cash will strand you, so there’s a light layer of tension. Playing it feels like taking a quiet, slightly lonely vacation inside an old computer.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
