Shadow Fighter was one of those rare Amiga fighting games that actually tried to compete with Mortal Kombat. It’s got 16 fighters, each with their own little backstory and themed arena—some of them look surprisingly good for the hardware, with layered backgrounds and decent color depth. The controls are a bit weird since they’re built for a one-button joystick, but you still get a ton of moves, including specials that require spinning the stick like you’re trying to start a fire.

There’s a practice dummy called Pupazz, which is just a puppet you can wail on forever to test combos (or vent frustration). The fights are best-of-three, and you can tweak difficulty or turn blood on if you want that extra edge of brutality. It’s not perfect, but for an Amiga fighter, it’s way more ambitious than most.
