Shadoworlds came out in 1993 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, developed by Krisalis Software Ltd. It was one of those early '90s releases that blended sci-fi and horror, a time when games were experimenting with deeper atmosphere and more complex mechanics. You could feel the ambition in its design, even if the hardware of the day imposed its own limits.
You control a lone space marine exploring a derelict station, moving screen by screen through tight corridors and eerie chambers. Your main goal is to survive, find key items, and eliminate the alien threat. The game uses a real-time combat system where you aim and fire at creatures that emerge from the shadows, and you must manage limited resources like flares and ammunition. The pacing is deliberate, almost tense, as you never know what waits beyond the next door. It feels isolating and genuinely unnerving to play, like you're always one mistake away from a grim end.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
