Play Shanghai Pocket on GBC Online
Match mahjong tiles before you box yourself in—those zodiac puzzles start cute but get sneaky. Then try not to panic when Kong Kong dumps extra tiles on you for being too slow.

Shanghai Pocket came out for the Game Boy Color in 2000, developed by Sunsoft. It was one of those quiet puzzle releases that didn't make a lot of noise but found its way into plenty of pockets during the handheld's peak years. The game adapts the classic mahjong solitaire concept, stripping it down to its essentials for portable play.
You control a cursor to match open pairs of identical tiles, clearing the board layer by layer. The main goal is to remove every tile without getting stuck; some layouts feature animal zodiac designs that start simple but quickly demand more foresight. If you take too long, the monkey character Kong Kong drops new tiles onto the board, adding pressure. The pacing is generally relaxed, though certain puzzles tighten up and make you plan several moves ahead. It feels clean and satisfying when the board finally clears.
