Play Shin Megami Tensei Devil Children - Shiro no Sho (Japan) Online
You recruit goofy-looking demons who haggle over your snacks mid-battle, trading insults and HP instead of just fighting—turns out the apocalypse is way funnier when it’s in bright GBC colors.

Shin Megami Tensei Devil Children - Shiro no Sho is like someone took the usual dark, brooding Megami Tensei vibe and gave it a GBC makeover—still weird, still full of demons, but with colors that don’t make you feel like you need to play it under a blanket at 2 AM. You start off recruiting monsters (somehow way less terrifying here than in mainline games) and bargaining with them mid-battle, which never stops being funny when a demon suddenly asks for your lunch money mid-fight.
It’s got that classic turn-based combat, but streamlined—no endless menus, just quick, punchy fights. The story’s lighter too, though "lighter" for this series still means you’re dealing with apocalyptic prophecies and kids with questionable demon-summoning hobbies. If you’ve played Pokémon and wished it had more creepy-cute designs (or actual moral dilemmas), this is the weird little cousin you never knew you wanted. The cartridge’s probably floating around somewhere if you dig deep enough.
