Shining Soul (Eurasia) (J) is one of those GBA RPGs that feels familiar but has its own rhythm. You pick a class, archer, warrior, mage, and start hacking through dungeons that look simple at first but get surprisingly deep.

The combat is straightforward, just button-mashing at first, but then you realize positioning matters when enemies swarm you from all sides. I remember getting cornered by skeletons in a tight hallway, barely scraping through because I hadn’t upgraded my armor yet.

Loot drops are sparse early on, so finding a better sword or a piece of armor with actual stats feels like a small victory. The progression is slow but satisfying, especially when you finally take down a boss that wiped you three times before.

It’s not the most polished RPG out there, but Shining Soul (Eurasia) (J) has a charm to it if you like grinding and simple dungeon crawls.
