Play Side Pocket on nes Online
NES pool game where sinking balls in order gets tougher fast. Two-player modes, tricky later levels, and bonus stages make it way more than just virtual billiards.

Side Pocket on NES is one of those pool games that starts simple but gets sneaky hard. You're just trying to sink balls in order to rack up points and clear each level, but those "lives" disappear fast if you mess up too many shots. The bonus stages are a nice break—if you're lucky enough to trigger them—where you can grab some extra balls to keep going.
What I like about the NES version is the two-player mode. You've got the standard Pocket Game (basically regular pool) and 9-Ball, which turns into a race to sink the 9-ball before your opponent does. Single-player has this weirdly satisfying progression where you start at City Class and work your way up to World Class, but be warned—later levels throw in trick shots that'll make you restart if you botch them. The ball layouts change each time, so no two attempts feel exactly the same.
If you've played the arcade original, this feels different—less about racing a timer, more about precision. The Game Boy version is similar but stripped down, while Genesis/SNES fans get flashier graphics and extra modes like Trick Game. Honestly though, the NES version nails that "one more try" feeling when you're just this close to clearing a level.
