Play Siege Online
Pick orcs or elves, then figure out how berserkers and engineers work while your siege towers get lit on fire. Classic DOS chaos with an editor to make your own disasters.
Siege came out in 1992 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, developed by Mindcraft Software. It was one of those titles that felt right at home on the platform, a straightforward strategy game without a lot of the graphical fuss that was starting to take over. You picked it up knowing it was about breaking down walls and managing troops, not about cinematic cutscenes or elaborate stories.
You control either the orcs or the elves, each with unique units like berserkers and engineers, directing them to assault the enemy castle or defend your own. The main goal is to destroy the opponent's stronghold, either by battering down the gate or scaling the walls with ladders and siege towers. Key mechanics include positioning your units to avoid arrow fire, managing your limited resources to build siege equipment, and reacting when the enemy sets your towers on fire. The pacing is methodical but tense, with mistakes costing you dearly. It feels like a careful, sometimes desperate puzzle where every move counts.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
