Game Overview
Silhouette Mirage is one of those weird, wonderful Saturn games that never got enough love. You play as Shyna, a girl caught between two warring forces—Silhouette and Mirage—after a genetic disaster messes up the world. The whole thing plays like a faster, weirder Gunstar Heroes, where enemies have either Silhouette or Mirage traits, and you’ve gotta hit them with the opposite attribute to do real damage. Mess it up, and you’re basically tickling them.
Shyna’s got all these slick moves—dashing, sliding, grabbing enemies mid-air—and the combat just flows once you get the hang of switching between attributes. There’s this whole parasite system too, where you buy little creatures that teach her new attacks. Some feel borderline broken, but in that fun "I’m cheesing this boss" way.
The PlayStation version throws in an extra boss and some story bits, but the Saturn original’s got that chunky, colorful pixel art that just hits different. It’s chaotic, a little janky in spots, but totally unique. If you like action games with weird mechanics, this one’s a hidden gem.
