SimAnt is one of those weirdly addictive Amiga games where you play as an ant colony trying to take over a suburban backyard. You start as a lone black queen, desperately digging tunnels and pumping out workers before the red ants find you. At first, it’s just about scavenging food crumbs and avoiding spiders, but soon you’re micromanaging an entire ant civilization—soldiers for defense, breeders to expand, workers to keep everything running.
The best part? You can zoom in and control individual ants directly. Send a worker to drag a breadcrumb back to the nest, then switch to a soldier to ambush a red ant scout. Just don’t get caught in the rain or—worse—the lawnmower. Later, you’ll send breeders to invade the house itself, swarming under doors until the humans finally give up and flee. It’s oddly satisfying to win by being a pest.
The tutorial’s helpful, but honestly, half the fun is figuring out the ant logic through trial and error. Who knew caterpillars could be such a problem?
