SimAnt is one of those weirdly addictive sims where you start as a single black ant queen and end up orchestrating a full-scale insect uprising. At first, you're just digging tunnels, laying eggs, and praying your workers bring back enough food—but soon you're micromanaging an entire ant civilization. Need more soldiers to fend off those aggressive red ants? Switch to your queen and crank out some warriors. Found a juicy crumb near the picnic table? Rally the workers before a rival colony snatches it.
The surface world is brutal. One minute you're dragging a breadcrumb home, the next you're dodging raindrops or scrambling away from the lawnmower's blades. And don't even get me started on the spiders—nothing like watching your best soldier ants get wrapped in silk while the rest panic. Eventually, you'll send out breeders to establish new colonies, creeping closer to the house until the humans finally give up and flee. It's oddly satisfying to see them abandon their home because you've turned it into an ant metropolis.
The Amiga version nails the creepy-crawly atmosphere with detailed sprites and surprisingly accurate ant behavior. Just don't be surprised if you start spotting ant trails in real life and mentally assigning them jobs.
