Game Overview

SimEarth: The Living Planet came out in 1990 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, developed by Maxis. It was a time when ambitious simulation games were pushing the limits of what personal computers could handle, offering players complex systems instead of straightforward action.

You control the fundamental forces of a planet, adjusting its temperature, landmass, and atmospheric composition to foster the rise of life. The main objective is to guide a planet from a barren rock to a space-faring civilization, or simply to see what strange forms life might take. Key mechanics include terraforming the landscape, managing the genetic evolution of species, and intervening in the development of intelligent societies. The pacing is slow and deliberate, demanding patience as you observe the long-term consequences of your adjustments. It feels like conducting a grand, unpredictable experiment where every small change can ripple through millions of years.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
