Simpsons - Bart Vs The Space Mutants, The is an NES platformer where you play as Bart trying to stop aliens from taking over Springfield. The first level throws you right into it—you're running around town, trying to get rid of purple objects by spraying them, covering them, or just smashing stuff. It sounds simple, but some of the solutions are weirdly specific, like tricking Moe into leaving his bar so you can mess with his purple phone.

The X-ray specs mechanic is neat—you have to scan NPCs to find out who’s secretly an alien in disguise. But the controls are stiff, and some jumps feel unfair. The coins you collect from defeated mutants are crucial, but good luck figuring out where to spend them without trial and error.

It’s got that classic NES charm, but also that classic NES frustration. You’ll either love the weird puzzle-platforming or quit after the first level.
