Game Overview

Sir Lancelot on the Atari 2600 is one of those games that looks simple until you actually try it. You start off riding Pegasus (yes, the Pegasus) outside a castle swarming with these weird flying creatures—some look like bats, others like angry clouds. Your job? Joust them out of the sky with your lance before they knock you off your horse. Easier said than done, since they zigzag unpredictably.

Once you clear the skies, you dive into the castle interior, where things get properly stressful. There’s a dragon circling over a lava pit, and you’ve got to stab its underbelly while dodging fireballs. Get hit, and you freeze mid-air for a second—just long enough to panic as you drop toward the lava. The dragon’s movements get faster every level, and eventually, it feels like the game’s just laughing at you. It’s the kind of arcade challenge that makes you mutter “one more try” at 2 AM.
