Skate or Die! came out on the NES in 1988, published by Konami. It was part of that wave of games trying to capture the skateboarding and BMX craze, offering a different kind of challenge from the platformers and shooters that filled most shelves at the time.

You control a skater through a selection of events, like the half-pipe jam or a frantic downhill race. The main goal is just to survive each event long enough to post a high score. Key mechanics include building momentum for tricks by timing your button presses and avoiding obstacles like cars, pedestrians, and those infamously aggressive bees. The game moves fast and the difficulty spikes quickly, especially in the later stages. It feels like a constant, chaotic scramble to stay on your board.
