Game Overview

Skate or Die: Tour de Thrash is one of those Game Boy skateboarding games that somehow nails the chaotic energy of wiping out while still making you feel like a half-pipe god. You’ve got two totally different ways to play, and honestly, both are a blast in their own way.

The first mode, Retro Rocket Ramp, throws you into a classic half-pipe where you’re just trying to pull off the gnarliest tricks possible. Timing and speed matter—hold the buttons too long, and you might eat pavement, but nail it, and you’ll rack up insane points. It’s simple, but there’s something satisfying about finding that perfect rhythm.

Then there’s Stale Fish Tour, which feels like a wild race through a skatepark that hates you. You’re looking at the skater from behind, dodging concrete walls and random obstacles while trying not to fly off the edges. The AI opponent is either annoyingly good or hilariously bad, and playing against a friend turns it into a chaotic mess of collisions and last-second jumps. Three minutes might not sound like much, but when you’re barely scraping past the finish line, it feels like an eternity.

It’s janky in that classic Game Boy way, but that’s part of the charm.
