Sky Blazer is one of those SNES games that somehow slipped past a lot of people back in the day, which is a shame because it’s ridiculously fun. You play as this acrobatic hero who dashes up walls, slashes through enemies with a sword, and even tosses out fireballs or lightning—depending on which elemental magic you’ve picked up. The controls are buttery smooth, so pulling off crazy jumps and mid-air attacks just feels right.
The levels are packed with little secrets—hidden rooms, extra power-ups—and the bosses are these big, screen-filling monsters that actually make you think instead of just mashing buttons. The music’s got this upbeat, almost mystical vibe that keeps you pumped even when you’re retrying a tricky section for the tenth time. If you like action-platformers with a bit of depth, this one’s a blast.
It’s not as famous as Ninja Gaiden or Castlevania, but honestly? It holds up just as well. Definitely worth digging out of the retro pile.
