Skyblazer (Beta2) is one of those SNES games that somehow slipped under the radar back in the day, which is a shame because it’s seriously fun. You play as Sky, this agile warrior who flips around like a ninja while tossing out spells—fireballs, lightning, the works. The controls are buttery smooth, so pulling off wall jumps and dodging attacks feels satisfying right from the first level.
What I love is how each stage throws something new at you—one minute you’re dodging traps in a temple, the next you’re fighting a giant demon that takes up half the screen. The Beta2 version has some neat quirks too, like little differences in the spells or unfinished areas that make you wonder what the devs were originally planning. It’s got that classic 16-bit charm with vibrant colors and a killer soundtrack.
If you’re into action-platformers that don’t hold your hand, this one’s a no-brainer. Just be ready for some tough-but-fair boss fights.
