Slipstream 5000 came out in 1995 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, developed by The Software Refinery. It was a futuristic racing game that fit right in with the era's appetite for fast, visually intense 3D experiences, even if the tech was still finding its feet. You didn't play it for realism; you played it for the rush.
You pilot a high-speed hovercraft across twisting, obstacle-filled tracks, competing against AI opponents in a championship structure. The main goal is straightforward: finish first. Key mechanics include collecting power-ups scattered on the course, which can be offensive or defensive, and managing your craft's energy reserves, which deplete with weapon use and require careful pacing. Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
