Ever wandered through the Smurfs' mushroom village as a kid and wished you could actually explore it? Smurfs Nightmare on the Game Boy Color lets you do exactly that—except Gargamel’s messed everything up with some dark magic. Now the place is crawling with weird shadow creatures, and Handy Smurf (that’s you) has to fix it all.
It’s part platformer, part puzzle game—you’ll be jumping over gaps, pushing blocks to open paths, and rescuing your fellow Smurfs trapped in these eerie bubbles. The first time I played, I got stuck for way too long on a puzzle involving a seesaw and a sleeping Smurf. (Turns out you just gotta bounce him awake. Who knew?)
The graphics are pure late-'90s handheld charm—tiny but colorful, with that classic Smurfs vibe. And yeah, it’s simple compared to today’s games, but there’s something satisfying about outsmarting Gargamel with nothing but a hammer and some Smurf ingenuity. If you’ve got a soft spot for retro platformers or just miss the little blue guys, this one’s a surprisingly fun time.
